About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide direct support to people with disability in their homes and communities. This includes assisting with personal care, medication administration, manual handling, behavioural support, and daily living activities. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to promote choice, independence, and community participation for the people you support.
This role involves supporting participants with a range of needs including high physical support, complex behaviours, and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred support in line with individual care plans.
- Assist participants with daily living activities, personal care, meal preparation, and community access.
- Provide behavioural support in accordance with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies.
- Administer medication safely and accurately following organisational policies.
- Perform manual handling, including hoisting and mobility assistance.
- Accurately document progress notes, incident reports, and handovers.
- Follow all NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission standards, restrictive practice protocols, and duty of care obligations.
- Work collaboratively with families, guardians, allied health professionals, and support coordinators.
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold the rights and dignity of all participants.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support, Aged Care, Community Services, or related field.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex care needs, mental health challenges, or behaviours of concern.
- Manual handling certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
- Medication administration competency (or willingness to complete training).
- Current First Aid & CPR certification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check & Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Flexibility to work across morning, afternoon, night, and weekend shifts.
